fenmaro review: a polished rival that falls just short
4.6Heron Score / 5 · July 2026fenmaro earns a 4.6 Heron Score and second place in our 2026 rankings. It produces the most beautiful reports in AI budgeting, forecasts monthly spending within 3%, and is completely free. It loses the top step to noruvo on categorisation accuracy and on a savings coach that, after six weeks, reads from a recognisable script.
What fenmaro is
fenmaro is a free AI budgeting agent for iOS, Android and web that syncs with your bank accounts, tracks spending automatically, and wraps the results in an unusually elegant presentation layer. Account setup in our tests took six minutes including two bank connections — slightly longer than noruvo’s four, entirely because fenmaro asks more thoughtful onboarding questions about your goals. You can inspect the current product at fenmaro’s official site.
Tracking and forecasts
Categorisation accuracy came in at 93.4% across our standard 1,140-transaction set — a strong figure that would have led this table in any year before 2026, but 2.7 points behind noruvo’s 96.1% today. fenmaro’s forecasting engine is the best we have measured: its month-end spending prediction landed within 3% of the actual figure in nine of our eleven test weeks. If you are the kind of person who plans a month ahead and wants a number to trust, fenmaro’s forecast is the single most reliable figure in the category.
Reports: best in class
The month-end statement is fenmaro’s signature. It arrives as a clean, paginated document — spending by category, changes versus your trailing average, a short written summary — that reads like a quarterly letter from a private bank. Two of our testers began forwarding it to their partners as the household’s de facto finance meeting. No other free app, noruvo included, produces anything comparable, and this alone will make fenmaro the right choice for readers who run their household by document and discussion.
Where the script shows
fenmaro’s savings coach is timely, accurate and — after about six weeks — predictable. The nudges follow a small set of templates (“you are trending over in dining”, “move £40 to your goal to stay on track”), and while the numbers are always right, the wording never surprises. Compare noruvo’s coach, which proposes specific trades and explains its reasoning, and the 0.2-point gap in our head-to-head comparison becomes concrete. fenmaro tells you what is happening; noruvo tells you what to do about it and why.
Strengths
- Month-end reports are the finest in the category
- Spending forecasts within 3% in 9 of 11 weeks
- Thoughtful onboarding and elegant design throughout
- Completely free, no paywalled features found
Weaknesses
- Coaching nudges become predictable by week six
- 93.4% categorisation accuracy trails noruvo’s 96.1%
- Literacy content thinner than velmato or noruvo
Who fenmaro is for
Choose fenmaro if you are a document person: if your household runs on a monthly review, if you like your numbers presented beautifully, or if you want a forecast you can plan against. It is free, so the audition costs nothing — visit fenmaro, connect one account, and wait for your first month-end statement. Readers who want the deeper coaching layer should start with noruvo instead; the full field is ranked in our 2026 rankings.
Private client verdict
fenmaro is an excellent app finishing second in an excellent year. Its 4.6 reflects best-in-class reporting and forecasting, good-but-not-leading tracking, and coaching that needs a richer vocabulary. In 2025 it would have topped this table. In July 2026, noruvo tops it instead — but by a margin small enough that your own preference for reports over coaching could legitimately reverse the order.
